What is Project ALLY all about and how did it start?

Project ALLY was created by students in the Social Service Worker Native Specialization program at Sault College in response to heartbreaking stories of suicide, racism, bullying, low self-esteem, cultural identity loss and abuses faced by Aboriginal youth in our community.  We have partnered with adolescent programs at the Sault Ste. Marie Indian Friendship Centre to mobilize this great community!

Become an Ally: I am not Aboriginal, but still want to support this event.

NON-ABORIGINAL SUPPORTERS... Become an Ally:  Supporting the wellness of Aboriginal youth is not just a task for Aboriginal adults.  However, the Project ALLY team believes in empowerment and self-determination and takes pride in recruiting self-identified Aboriginal mentors to participate in the event.  It would mean a lot to Project ALLY, as well as the youth who come out to participate, if we had the support of every person (Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal) in our community.  Please consider a contribution.

I am an Aboriginal Youth: How can I participate in this event?

What happens at the event to make it so memorable?

Cooperative Games, Team Contests, Carnival-Style events, Pasta & Meatball dinner, LOTS of laughs.

This is a night of empowerment, confidence building and celebrating Aboriginal young people.  This event has been growing in numbers and success... going into it's 3rd year!
